Join us in Jacksonville, Florida for our first annual SOUTHEAST EDUCATION AND FUN WEEKEND. The dates are Friday, 11/13, Saturday, 11/14 and Sunday, 11/15.

We have kept the registration fee low, so that as many of you as possible can attend. The cost this year is $85 per person. This includes lunch and dinner on Saturday and Sunday, (and the food is delicious), books, educational material, and and assorted “goodies”. The hotel has a very nice free breakfast – local participants have been known to join out-of-towners for fruit, waffles and coffee before the seminars. This event is similar to our Tzu-Unions, so plan to attend and enjoy! We’ll have door prizes, a Chinese Auction, live auction, and much more. It’s like a retreat with dogs, and your well behaved foster and forever babies are welcome.

They ‘allow’ 2 dogs in each room, so check in with 2. If you want to bring more, it’s fine, just call or email me first.. Here is the hotel information:

If you are flying, fly into Jacksonville International Airport, ( JAX). We can pick you up, you don’t have to rent a car. If you have an rv, there are wonderful campgrounds in the area. If you are driving, the hotel is right near I-95. Also, we’ll be just 9 miles from the beach, if you want to extend your stay, or bring your family. The air temperature will be in the 70’s, even in November.

There are a limited number of “scholarships” for those who want to attend, but will have difficulty with the cost. This is on a first come, first served basis – speak to me directly, we are discreet.

Here is the tentative itinerary:

Friday, November 13, 12-5 pm
(or whenever you arrive, if you wish to participate)
This is a work day for administrative volunteers, board members, and anyone who wants to be involved in the business side of rescue. Our organization has an “open door” policy, so if you want to take part, and are prepared to work, we would love for you to join us. We will work on several issues, including:

  • contracts and protocol
  • fundraising concerns
  • application processing

We’ll break for lunch, and then go out as a group for dinner. (restaurant to be determined)
If you plan to arrive late on Friday, that’s ok too! We will plan to see you at our full day of educational seminars on Saturday.

Norma is a rescue mom and friend, and she joins us every year with her 2 Maltese mix rescues, who are agility pups. We’ll follow agility with a clicker training session, also taught by Norma.
  • After lunch on Sunday, we will have a proven animal communicator, who will talk to our babies and answer our questions We’ll also discuss end of life decisions, health issues and geriatric care on this day.

Foster parents are strongly encouraged to attend, and we hope to see adopters and supporters, too! Part of what makes our rescue so strong, is that we really know one another. It’s going to be a good weekend and I’m looking forward to meeting everyone who can join us!
