Halloween Safety

yorkie-in-pumpkin-halloweenHere are a few tips to keep your furbabies safe and happy this Halloween!

  • Plan on dressing your dog in costume? If you must, make sure your dog can see properly, but keep them away from mirrors or they will spend the rest of the year plotting their revenge.
  • Poor visibility or restrictive or scary clothing can provoke fearful behaviors.
  • Even if we give you those begging eyes, don’t give us any trick-or-treat candies! Chocolate is poisonous to us, and tin foil and cellophane candy wrappers can be hazardous if swallowed.
  • If you have a party, make sure that libations or other witches’ brews are not within reach of our curious tongues.
  • Be cautious with those jack-o-lanterns and candles! Keep them up out of the reach of our noses and tails to avoid burns and fires.
  • Make sure to keep us leashed or secured in another room so we don’t scoot or get hurt when you open the door.
  • Have a plate of doggie cookies available for us as well as those canine Trick-or-Treaters.
