I’m Carter, a comical, affectionate, active 3 yr. old Shih Tzu boy. I weigh almost 13lbs. I collect abandoned toys left about & like to supervise activities involving snacks! Playing chase with a willing friend is exciting! Interactive dog puzzles engage me; I’m getting good at those. My foster siblings have taught me home-manners and backyard rules. I get an A+ for being house trained! I need structure and a routine I can work with! Foster mom has taught me basic commands every pup should know (Sit, Come, Down, Leave-it, Place & Off); working on Wait & Stay. I wear a harness and walk nicely on a leash in the backyard. I love to cuddle with my person – I just melt. I sleep in a dog bed but won’t say no to an invite on the big bed. I feel safest being a stay-home dog and the fenced-in yard is my kingdom (I run like a racehorse)! Foster mom says I am still learning about the world outside the front door, but a dog stroller helps me feel safe when we must go out. I learn about the world in baby-steps on my terms, so I need experienced forever parents to help me continue my confidence-building. It would be vital to have self-assured dog siblings (1 or 2) to learn from, and best if my forever person works from home or is home frequently, Did I mention I rock my thunder shirt and love calming treats? My foster mom says I am bright, spunky, and will do great in a calm home filled with opportunities to learn, trust & enjoy new experiences as I mature. Carter is fostering in Ormond Beach FL. He needs another small dog or two, a fenced yard, and a person committed to helping him feel comfortable while he learns about the world around him.
