Ginger is an adorable female Shih Tzu. She is about 6 years old and weighs 10lbs. Ginger started life in a breeding kennel, and was given up when she could no longer produce puppies. She has a sweet personality and has made exceptional progress in socialization. She is still wary of strangers and reacts badly when strangers try to pick her up. It takes Ginger about 3 days to get to know someone. After that, she allows handling, bathing, petting, etc without resistance. She is not a cuddler, although she loves her ears to be scratched. She is working on house training.
Ginger LOVES playing alone with squeak toys! She gets along with other dogs, but mostly ignores them. She will come when called most of the time, especially for “cookies.” She is doing well getting used to a leash, but still needs more practice before she will be ready for leash-walking. She follows her person around the house.
Ginger needs a patient, loving home with lots of “cookies” and no young children. She would do best with another dog and a fenced yard. Ginger is in South Carolina and can travel to her very special forever home. #8037
